America built the interstate highway system when 60+ % of the Federal Budget was being spent on defense during "peace."
( Eisenhower - 1953-1961.)
Now the biggest % of the budget is being spent on an area that wasn't getting much during that same time span. It's called "entitlements." The defense % of the budget has dropped for many consecutive years.
You want better roads? Get some of the "entitlement" programs cut. Schools are a huge portion of that. Since they have mostly gotten worse since the '60's, why not apply a little "performance" formula to them, and allow what works to have the money instead?
Send 7 of your schools 8 administrators out to pave streets, put in sewer & water, rebuild, instead of pushing pencils. It's healthier for them, and better for America!

Wouldn't that be nice! Unfortunately, that's not the way the world works. Terrorists don't need a reason to attack America or anyone else, that's why they're called terrorists. They are not logical or reasonable. How do you know they will stop attacking? It's more likely that they won't! They are uncivilized barbarians who don't know how to live in peace! That's why we always have to be vigilant and prepared for whatever happens.

The terrorist attacks are not motivated by American imperialism. Note that most terrorism is being practiced against non-Americans. Islamist terrorism is motivated by desire to spread their own kind of "Islam." Most other terrorism is motivated by ethnic or "religious" hatred, and a desire for power without popular support.
People in the US assume that everybody wants wealth; the fact is, those who want wealth are more likely to do business with us than to destroy us.

to keep the peace. Your logic is @ss backwards. If we were to reduce our military and save that money to create an ''earthly paradise'' as you suggest,we would be overrun with people from all over the world, and then not have a military to defend the nation.

You're very naive, the best offense is a good defense. It's not "imperialism" they are after, it's our (a quote) "Pornographic way of life". Or simply, our way of life. I guess you haven't noticed, or have ignored, it isn't only the U.S. they hate.
