Okay, i'll give you tips which helped me do well in math.

First, you have to build interest in the subject. If at first you hate it, then there will be lesser chances for improvement.
Second, learn to focus on the lesson during class hours. It is better to listen directly from the teacher's explanation as he/she tries to make it easier for the students to understand.
Third, math is full of numbers, formula and equations. To cope with these, understand them and not memorize them. By understanding, you put them into your mind whereas to memorizing can later be forgotten and lost.
Fourth, write notes on the lessons you discuss. It will be useful for future references when you have forgotten those past lessons because of new ones. Now in writing your notes, do not copy everything the teacher writes. Only write the important things and also the examples because it will help you understand better.
Fifth, if you do not understand the lesson, do not hesitate to ask the teacher for help. It is better to ask from a teacher than a fellow student as he/she may not also clearly understood.
Sixth, in connection with number 1, do not think of math as a boring subject. Learn to have fun while learning it so that your mind will be more eager to learn it.
