Neither. Height is dependant on genetics and it can't be stopped or slowed down by doing weights or any other activity. Also 14 is a good age to start doing weights, under experienced adult supervision.

Since you are still growing I can appreciate your concern. You sound very intelligent for your age. Weight lifting in moderation should do no harm to your growth. My concern would be if you went into extreme weight lifting, that could do damage to your growth plates. Repetitive lighter weight lifting would better then heavy weights to help overall strength.

At your age while your joints are still growing you should do a lot of sets with lighter weight. If you put too much pressure on your young joints you could stand to have problems in your later years. You have access to the Internet research the exercises that will help you gain muscle with little stress on your body. Good luck you have the world in your hands.

Lucky you being so tall. Stand up straight and embrace your height. The weights won't stop you from getting taller. As long as you don't go mad then its ok to start training at your age. As at your local gym for prof advice.
