I am 15 weeks and I had a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). It seems to be pretty common among pregnant women due to the increasing size of your uterus and it putting pressure on your bladder. And your doctor should be able to perform the US so you can see the sex of your baby, but that really is all up to the baby, the first time I went for an US for my now 5 year old, his whole body was facing the screen like he was staring at us and he refused to move into a position where would were able to see his parts. This is the information I found about it and my doctor prescribed Nitrofurantoin for it.
Pregnant women are at increased risk for UTIs. Beginning in week 6 and peaking during weeks 22 to 24, approximately 90 percent of pregnant women develop ureteral dilatation, which will remain until delivery (hydronephrosis of pregnancy). Increased bladder volume and decreased bladder tone, along with decreased ureteral tone, contribute to increased urinary stasis and ureterovesical reflux.1 Additionally, the physiologic increase in plasma volume during pregnancy decreases urine concentration. Up to 70 percent of pregnant women develop glycosuria, which encourages bacterial growth in the urine. Increases in urinary progestins and estrogens may lead to a decreased ability of the lower urinary tract to resist invading bacteria. This decreased ability may be caused by decreased ureteral tone or possibly by allowing some strains of bacteria to selectively grow.1,3 These factors may all contribute to the development of UTIs during pregnancy.

I don't know about the ultrasound. But I did have a bladder infection that I didn't know about. It turned into a kidney infection. The doctor put my on an antibiotic and it cured it. My kidneys hurt so bad that I couldn't even walk. Good luck

i havent had a bladder infection or anything, BUT i did have my 20 week scan actually at 19 weeks, the lady was able to clearly see her girl parts... so there is some hope that you may find out the baby's sex today... i would say its for sure... but its definitely a possibility

They will give you antibiotics for the infection(probably macrobid..it's safe to take while pregnant) As far as the ultra sound of course it is up to the office whether they do it today(may not have time to fit you in today)but if they can it is early enough for them to detect the sex.

They will give you antibiotics for the infection or if it's really bad you will need to be hospitalized for IV antibiotics. It is the drs preference on whether or not to do the ultrasound but if they do the baby's sex should be seen.

they'll prob still do the ultrasound just to make sure the baby is ok, you should be able to find out what the babys sex is as long as he/she is cooperating...i found out at only almost 16 weeks
