Actually the death penalty costs much more than life without parole. And these costs start to build up even before trial.
Instead of "eye for an eye" thinking, why not focus on funds for victims services.

Your viewpoint relies too much on vengeance and not enough on the facts. This topic is too important not to look at the hard facts. Here are a few more-

The death penalty isn’t a deterrent. Homicide rates are higher in states that have the death than in states which do not have it. Most people who commit murder do not think they will be caught (if they think at all.)

Over 120 people on death rows have been released with evidence of their innocence. Some had spent decades on death row. Speeding up the system will guarantee the execution of an innocent person.

Most of us do not want to see an innocent person killed. After an execution, the case is closed. If the wrong person was executed the real killer is still out there.

More and more states have life without parole on the books. It means what it says and is no picnic to be locked up for 23 of 24 hours a day, foreover.

The death penalty can be very hard on the families of murder victims. As the process goes on they are forced to relive their ordeal in the courts and in the media. Life without parole is sure and swift and rarely appealed.

Opposing the death penalty does not mean you excuse brutal crimes or believe murderers should go unpunished. It means you are using common sense.

They're in jail not a hotel. Maximum security prisons have a high risk of the prisoner being shanked and raped in the showers. It's far more torturous to have to watch your back every day and worry about what's going to be done to you than to get the easy way out with the death penalty. What they don't deserve is the sweet release of death. They deserve to have to worry about being raped and stabbed in the courtyard.

I AGREE!!! I'm so sick of paying so much money every paycheck to pay for some dumba**es who can't keep their butts out of jail.. i am a law abiding citizen and they ought to be paying me to be the great person i am. i am pro death penalty. also, for rapists, they ought to be castrated, same with child molesters. cut off their hands and blind them as well. that's my opinion.

"PEOPLE IN JAIL" ARE IN MOST CASES GUILTY OF A CRIME. MOST ARE INDIFFERENT AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE SYSTEM....SHELTER, FOOD, HEAT OR AC, LAUNDRY, TOILET AND COMFORT ITEMS, VISITING, PHONES, TV, HEALTH BENEFITS, DENTAL BENEFITS, RELIGIOUS SUPPORT, MAIL, MONEY TO SUPPORT
ALL OTHER ISSUES ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, A DEMAND OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS...GAURANTEED... AND EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS, DID I MENTION
FREE LEGAL REPRSENTATION AT ANY TIME, AND FREE SPEECH. THE DEPUTY.. CORRECTIONAL OFFICER MUST BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, AND CONDUCT. THE INMATE DOES NOT REALLY CARE.....ALL HE HAS TO DO IS BELCH, FART, AND JUST WAIT ON THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM TO START TO WORK...

I think once you commit a crime such as murder you should be killed the second they find you guilty. I hate to pay taxes to house and feed criminals.
