You know what? I think the reason the story is a classic is that to some extent all men are Mr. Darcy. They think they're hot spit and women should just grovel at their feet until they meet a woman they want but can't get. After that there is a painful learning process for them to become civilized to the point where they are willing to win a girl's affections.
Of course, some men never learn.

I think that we've got to face it, the book was written by a woman who was searching for her ideal man. Over time and with the help of films and tv programmes from the BBC, Mr Darcy has become the embodiment of the perfect man. Alas he doesn't exist.

I think Mr. Darcy is the embodiment of the perfect man...who doesn't exist. I want a Mr. Darcy, but I have little hope of finding him. Guess I'll have to settle for a guy who at least opens the door for me :)

Was I the only one who didn't like Darcy in the beginning?
Seriously, the attitude on him... i mean come on. I know PLENTY of guys like that.
By the end, yes we all know how it went, and yes, we all fell in love with him lol.
But yeah, in the beginning, not so much love...
