ANGEL fish aren't really fighting until you start to see torn fins and damaged scales, the other stuff is just sorting out dominance, and in the case of other species maybe trying to set up a spawning territory. If the tank is large enough, maybe you could add a couple more,if the tank isn't big enough for 2 more maybe it's to small in the first place. Two angel fish should have a 29 gallon tank pretty much all to themselves. Hope this helps. PeeTee

All angels have the potential for fighting. They are pairing fish, forming monogomous male/female 'relationships' so to speak. Both the male and the female in an existing pair will naturally be aggressive to other Angels, seeing them as a threat. Males are aggressive toward other males regardless of whether they are currently paired up with a female. The male and female in a pair will often exhibit breeding aggression toward each other when it comes to spawning.

i have two angel fish in a 125 gallon tank that i have to keep seperated because they constantly fight. They lock lips and push on each other. Sometimes they turn on their side and swim sideways like a frisbee charging at the other fish.

Do you mean angel fish? Males will harry one another eventually the stronger grows bigger because the weaker gets little or no food and is unlikely to survive. remember most fish especially cyclids are aggresive

I had an identical situation. It sounds territorial to me. I solved mine by potential of including 2 extra angels and then changing the tank decorations around. This got rid of the previous territorial strains. The extra angels additionally appeared to calm issues down somewhat - yet i nonetheless do have one dominant male who will nip different fish as they swim previous. Stick some extra flowers in and alter the format. wish that facilitates ..Amy

Angelfish are naturally aggresive. Male will fight male, just like the Bettas. Males should be fine with females, and females with females.
