Its one of two things.

In some cases it because the amount of traffic/users hitting the site. There is only so much traffic a web server can handle before it has to deny. IE a site only has 1 server allowing for 20 people to hit that site at a time. If 20 people are hitting that site you may get an error site can be found when trying to go to it.

Another reason could be that your Domain Name Server that you use from your ISP doesn't have the websites domain or IP. Example would be my company changing server hosts. It takes up to 48hrs to propagate the change throughout the Internet.

If your computer says that your Internet is working than it could be one of two problems.

It could be that you have a virus on your computer but that is a long shot.

A more practical answer is that it just may be the browser you are using. You didn't put enough information in your question so I cannot specifically help you. But if you are using your Internets browser (for an example you have SBC Yahoo and you use the SBC yahoo browser) If you are using a browser like this try re-installing it. Or, you may just need to update your browser.

Try using Internet Explorer. If the Internet explorer is the one that is not working than update your Internet Explorer to Internet Explorer 7. Go to automatic updates on your computer. (should be found somewhere on the control panel of your computer) If automatic updates are not on than turn it on. Windows will download Internet explorer 7 and ask you if you want to install.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sorry, this is not an explanation. I am experiencing a similar problem - I can't get onto googles gmail, hotmail or yahoo mail. All other pages work fine. I tried hi5, it works from my internet.
