i have a brothers it does every thing that the expensive fancy one do. more affordable though , they start at about 89.00$ and up. most walmart carries them.sears also has good ones depending on how much you want to spend. mine has all the fancy stitching and embroidering on it.i paid on sale 199.00.have fun sewing.

Just about anywhere, really. If you only sew a few times a month, you can get a fine $90.00 Brother machine at Wal-o-world. In your local newspaper classifieds, you can get a good used machine very cheap. I got one for $35.00 from a repair person, but if you buy it from Joe Schmoe, make sure you budget a little extra for a proper tune-up from a sewing machine repair person.
Jo-Ann fabrics sells White and other brands that are good. I got my $700.00 Pfaff from a store that sells just sewing machines. There are other stores that specialize in certain brands like Bernina.
The expensive machine actually does a lot more things than the cheap one, but a hobby sew-er wouldn't notice.
