As a former executive and long time interviewer, I would say, to relax, understand that your interviewer is just a person, try to be yourself, but pause and really consider the question asked.
Don't try to outguess the interviewer and give him/or her what you think they want to hear, rather take time to consider the question, consider your background and give an answer that represents your real feelings about the question.
Being genuine is one of the most sought after traits of interviewers. You can teach skills but if you don't think the candidate is a. honest, b. teachable, c. able to be him or herself, it is not worth the interviewers time to try to get to know the interviewee on a deeper level. Without those qualities you are better letting your resume speak for you.

Just go prepared for the interview, listen carefully before making observations, dont hesitate to show ignorance about any topic, (never try to lie your way around) Interviewers can usually see through feigned knowledge, and thats where the root of your dismisal takes root. Answer to the point , elaborate if you see that your interviewer expects it. Dont boast off any singular thing, but try to project a well rounded image.
Ofcourse the usual things like being punctual, dressing up appropriately for the interview, being neat in your appearance, and courteous usually help and the best thing is that these give you points for free.
Best of Luck with your Interview!

Be confident! Look at the person who is interviewing you in the eyes. Force yourself to listen to what they are saying. Do not be so nervous that you are not paying attention. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Your first question should not be how much does this job pay. Tell them what type of hours you are looking for. Most of all be friendly. Smile! Employees are looking for some one that they think people will enjoy working with. Good luck!

Know about their company and how they operate and be able to answer their questions. Also dress nice, a nice black or blue suit normally does the trick.
