Not like a KVM but kind of opposite, so if I enter 'bob' into a word file on Comp A, 'bob' is also entered on Comp B, at the same instant. Would splicing in another keyboard cord work or maybe taking out the switch in a non-software controlled KVM?

I would buy 2 identical inexpensive wireless keyboards .... attach an IR receiver to each PC & then use just one keyboard.

Drivers need to be installed on both PCs .... can't fail. No risk of any electrical short circuit since there is no direct connection ... only radio signals.

Example ($15ea):

There is a program called "synergy." I'm not sure how it works, but you can control 2 computers from 1 keyboard and mouse.
