Not true. There hasn't been a bombing for a long while. The odds of you becoming a victim of a bombing in Mindanao is much less than you becoming a mugging or any violent crime victim in the U.S.A.

Most Filipino Muslims are living in Mindanao but majority of Mindanao's population are Christians. It is also home to several indigenous tribes.

The bombings in Mindanao is closely associated with poverty than ideology. Most of these "bombers" were simply paid to do so. They did not do this because they believe that Allah would reward them and so on. I even consider the Abu Sayafs as mere bandits (extortionists) than an ideological terrorist organization. In fact some of these bombing were extortion related. They just want money and nothing else. If I am not mistaken the Philippines has never had a suicide bomber similar to those in Indonesia and Israel which are very ideological in nature.

One must understant that most Filipino Muslims are considered moderates similar to those in Malaysia. You rarely see Filipino Muslims protesting in the streets against our government and the US. In fact you see more of these "Christian" Leftist groups doing that!

Bombings is a remote case. Only media made it exaggerated. Intelligence reports have it that some of foreigners linked to al-quida network has been operating in mindanao. and their way to show their might is thru the conduct of sabotage in various installations and civilian mass gatherings. Preventive and preemptive measures were lunched intitiated by govern/private agencies that is why plans of bombings were anticipited by the authorities but some werent. The reasons why there are still occurences would be that we lack enough technology to detect any possible attack of the terrorists. We cannot understimate the capability of the enemy because they have also their own intelligence networks.
