I am 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Yesturday I had an appointment, where they did an internal exam and dicovered that my cervix was still closed. After that I was getting alot of mucous when I wiped and this morning it was tinged with blood. Doesn't your cervix have to be open to lose your mucous plug?

I don't think so. I was a week overdue and my cervix was minus still I hadn't dropped and I was begging to be induced. They couldn't induce me because they said I would be in labor for days. She Stripped my membranes and shortly I was having the same thing you describe. She ran her fingers around during a vaginal exam and by the end of the night I had a crying baby boy. Did they do this on purpose? Sounds like you are a few days overdue anyways? This can only help the process ... provided you had a healthy pregnancy. Call your doctor if you have questions. Good luck :)

It's hard to say. You can lose your mucous plug for lots of reasons and some people actually grow a new one. It's also possible that your labor was kick-started and you are beginning to dialate and thin.

I wouldn't worry too much, since you are overdue they will probably induce you before too long. I was in the same boat with my first. I lost my mucous plug but was still sealed up like Fort Knox when I went in to be induced. It happens.

That baby will be in your arms one way or the other before you know it. Just hang in there!

I've had three babies and unfortunately when you lose the mucous plug it doesn't necessarily mean you will have it anyday. But you being over 40 wks it could be a good sign. When I had mucous show I didn't have my babies until several weeks after that. The only way you can really tell is by bad contractions that are very consistent. Good luck!

yes it can very well have started dialating , dont worry about it cuz u r ready u r a bit overdue , if u want the process to move quicker walk alot , and take warm showers let the water run over ur belly to stimualte the baby . mucus and blood can be a good thing at this point , u r gettin close , we will keep u im mind and by the way you have to keep us posted . good luck

hiya i went over due with 3 of my 4 babies and each time the midwife gave me an internal to see if she could move things along, which meant i lost some yucky stuff and then my plug.
it sounds to me like you may be losing your plug so in theory you should/could start dilating now,
good luck i hope you are not kept waiting to much longer

Just having an internal exam can cause those symptoms....also it is possible that they "stripped your membranes" which can cause a woman to go into labor....my 3rd daughter was born less than 24 hours after having my membranes stripped.
