I would definitely say no. I've gone through three in the last year, and I realize that isn't normal but I use mine ALL the time. And yes, that includes using the safe hardware removal wizard. I think it has to do with the fact that I bring it with me everywhere so there is constant change in temperature, it moves around a lot, and it just gets used so often. Still, I would NEVER trust one for long term. Plus...you'll inevitably forget it in a USB port somewhere and then be at the mercy of some stranger being nice enough to bring it back to you.

YOu'd have to specify what you mean by "Long Term". I have used a 1 GB for more than a year and have had no trouble. I also make sure that I have all the files backed up elsewhere. I recommend that any and all files you use should be backed up on a regular basis regardless of how you carry them around.

I have been using one for the last two years and as yet I have never had any problems. You just have to make sure you don't get it virus infected. According to my research it is the best long term storage device. Also it is the most handy storage device. Easy to carry and easy to use.

I use my Flash drive frequently and have had it for a few years. You may want to replace it every so often but I can see having one for maybe 5 years

you'll come across a 1g for like $10 now days at maximum places it truly is slightly hardpersistent so there is no "extra useful" except you're searching for particular good factors like the fingerprint scanners and such somtimes they die after a month (and also you wish you save the reciept for warrety) othertimes they can very last continually... it truly is all conceivable

nothing can last forever... not even the hard disk in the computer itself... but, they are quite reliable, i have a few, and the first one i got some 3+ years ago, which come in very small memory (I think is only 64mb) is still working!
