for some reason with this pregnancy the baby is kicking extremely low, (it sometimes feels like he is going to kick himself out). my first pregnancy i enjoyed the kicking and feeling the baby move with this one it is painful because it is down so low, it is surprising that he can be kicking down that low. is that normal? i haven't dropped yet i am only 26 weeks, what could be causing this?

I'm going through that too right now (I'm 27 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby).

It just means that the baby is likely feet down, head up.

You mentioned not having dropped yet. Just an FYI, it's only in 1st pregnancies that the baby drops a few weeks before labor. In subsequent pregnancies, baby may not drop until labor has actually started! Also, many babies who are breech don't turn until the last moment (right before you go into labor or during), especially with 2nd and subsequent pregnancies.

So, it's uncomfortable and sometimes even a bit painful, but it's normal.

You could be carrying low this pregnancy...or your baby coudl be in the breech position (nothign to owrry abotu at only 26 weeks....they dont care if a baby is breech until you are abotu 36 weeks). If he is breech, he could be 'dancing' on your baldder. Thats what mine was doing at that point in time. haha

I think it is completely normal for them to be really low. I am pregnant with my first and I am carrying VERY low...according to everyone, including my doc.

I dont think there is anything you can do to make your baby stop kicking so low. Perhaps you can try Kegel exercises (they are good to do anyways)....a midwife told me that if you do kegels when you baby is kicking so low, they dont liek that feeling down there and they tend to 'move' away from teh area a bit. You coudl try that and see if it works.

I did that when my little guy was doing the baldder dance, and he stopped doign it at that time...so I dont kwo if it was coinsidence, or if it really as the kegel exercises. Worth a shot I suppose!
Good luck and congrats!

I had the same thing around 25-30 weeks. I actually dropped to my knees at the mall in pain once because of it. It felt like he was kicking my cervix to get out! I guess we're just carrying low. Good luck!

I'm 31wks and swear my little fella is trying to break out of you know where!!!
it is alot more comfortable now hes head down although he still punches down there, hopefully your bundle of joy will change position soon which will stop it being as painful then you can look forward to all those kicks in the ribs!!!! ( remind me why we enjoy pregnancy!!! )
I'm sure its all normal

The same thing happened to me and the "problem" was that she was not head down yet, she was sitting, so I would feel all her kicks very low...now that sh'es positioned for birth I get all those kicks in my ribs, and she leaves me breathless!

You may want the Dr to check your cervix to make sure its holding strong. I felt the same thing at 21 weeks when my cervix started to dilate.
