i am 41 weeks and due to be induced on wed night. i had a show last week where i passed blood and brown icky stuff;

but the past couple of days i have been passing what looks like big lumps of yellowy silicone. and yeaterday i had a small amount of fluid followed by a big slug of this stuff( i know its gross forgive me).

what the hell is going on i was certain that was my show last week but this has been going on the past few days and sometimes its quite a lot surely ther can be much more left!!

does anybody think that this could be a sign of my baby making an appearance before her induction date??

your muscous plug can start coming out weeks before labor but are you sure it isn't your water breaking (leaking-it can leak without breaking fully) now, if so you need to call your dr asap especially if it is colored and doesn't seem like the blood tinged color a muscous plug usually is.
i personally would call the dr just in case it is your water b/c if it is the baby needs to be out within 24 hrs of that happening.

It's possible but the thing is with mucous show , it's not a reliable indicator. With my first baby I lost the mucous plug during labor....with my other two I lost the plugs and I didn't have the babies until several weeks after. It's hard to say and very frustrating because when I lost the plugs I got very excited thinking we'd have the baby that night. I was very disappointed...but everyone is different. Good Luck!

you lose your mucus plug when your cervix starts to change. The cervix has to thin, then start to dialate. It won't start dialating until it's thinned or effaced. When you start having the mucus "slug" it is the result of the changing of the cervix. All this is driven by hormones and is normally a gradual change. Some women can walk around dialated to 4 cm for a month or so!!

All the stuff you are seeing going on will only help with your induction on Wednesday.

Good luck and wish you well!

I understand fully. Im 40 weeks and that plug has been coming out for over a week! I think that if it came out all at once I would have had a heart attack!I keep thinking thats got to be the last of it and then I get another blob. Good luck!

its normal to pass that mucus for several weeks the baby is just moving down , which is want u want to happen , relax and u will be fine as long as u can feel the baby moving , i have had 4 pregnancies its a good thing to get the mucus and discharge , think of it this way the more yukie stuff u get the more the baby is moving down into ur canal , all u have to do now is wait for the contractions to hit , good luck .

Your mucous plug can come out over several days. It can take anywhere from 24 hours to a couple of weeks before starting labor after a mucous plug.

I would call your OB/GYN because it sounds like that is what it could be but you have to be careful if you are leaking fluid - it could be amniotic fluid and you don't want infection to go in where the baby is and you also don't want a dry birth. Good luck and Congrats!

It does sound like the mucous plug but don't worry, I lost mine 6-8 weeks before they induced me.

it is really hard to say, I would call your doctor and talk to them, I know when I had my show it was some runny slimey stuff with a little blood. then the next day I had my son.

sounds like you could be going into labor soon. call your doctor and let him know what is going on and see what he wants to do. good luck.
