My dad prefers a son to a daughter. Unfortunately, I am a girl and at times, my dad blames my failures on my gender. He thinks that boys are generally smarter and more hardworking than girls even though I have A's for most of my subjects. This makes me extremely angry and frustrated. What's so important about the family surname? A daughter could also carry on the family's surname!

I have also heard stories about people aborting their unborn daughters. For example, India and China.

In China, due to the one-child policy, many aborted their unborn daughters so that they could have a boy in the future.

So tell me, do chauvinlistic people still exist in Asia?

However, I am proud to be a girl.

I live in South China, and I tell you in here people don't treat boys and girls equally. In my hometown, many men hit their wives, and parents prefer sons.Fortunately, the situation is getting better and better now.
