There just different formats of a picture file. JPEG is a compressed file (like MP3 is a compressed version of .wav sound files). JPEG is the best because it supports the most colors and has the least amount of size. .GIF supports the least amount of colors. I'm not sure about .PNG, those can be pretty small and seem to have the same color quality as jpg

PNG and JPEG offer different compression schemes, as does GIF. GIF can also be packaged as a series of frame to make an animated image. PNG and GIF offer better options for transparency than JPEG.

GIF file is animated for most of time (Bad quality but animated) JPEG is the format of picture that we take using camera (Better quality but static) PNG is for gamming developement because of it's good quality
