I'm not sure why he was selected for this high profile trial. He did not come over as a very good representative of judges. He allowed the defense to get away, literally, with murder.

As for the glove thing, it was so obviously a show, I was surprised that the jury did not see through it. They must have been in celebrity heaven along with Ito.

The judge was fair to both sides and let the evidence and testimony be presented. A few things of what the jury saw and/or heard:
Photographs of Nicole's bruise from a prior incidence and a tape of her call to police. They heard testimony from her sister Denise and others. The jury heard the Fuhrman tapes where he made derogatory statements about blacks then lied under oath. The jury got to see the lead investigator in charge of the case admit in court that he took a vial sample of OJ's blood from the lab and carried it back into the crime scene. The jury saw a video taken by paparazzi of OJ, Nicole, Denise and the women's parents talking in a nice peaceful manner after attending OJ/Nicole's daughter's dance recital, all were getting along well - Denise even kissed and hugged OJ (just a few short hours before the crime). The jury saw there wasn't a murder weapon ever found and there weren't any witnesses. They saw that the "found" glove didn't fit. The jury heard Simpson enter a "not guilty" plea.

I dont know anything of him other than the OJ trial, and the way he allowed that to be ran he seemed somewhat incompetent in his duties. The whole thing with the gloves not fitting OJ, he wasnt even trying to put them on. He was acting-putting on a show. Any other judge would have ordered him to cooperate or have the bailiffs put the gloves on him themselves.
I recall at times seeing Ito up on the bench looking like he was bored to death and ready to fall asleep.
