It never made sense. You're a human being first.

Why would it not make sense to stay loyal to one country? There is really no reason for the majority of people in the world to have dual citizenship. Unless you have some type of connection to a country other than the one you were born in (e.g. one or both of your parents is an immigrant), you should not be able to go around choosing countries to be a citizen of. There would be profound immigration consequences if people were allowed to do this.

For me,It's YES...with reserve
Since the moment we are born, our mother country is our pride, being USA or Ethiopia...just to mention two countries with different fortunes...I wouldn't think that a person not loyal to his country could be loyal to anything or anyone else..It is an innate loyalty....However,I wouldn't say that a person should die for his country...Life is the foremost most important thing on earth...You cannot defend your country by giving your life away...Infact,Gw Bush, and other world leaders know this, and they don't go to war,but send other people's children...
So,for me,it's definitely Yes,but with reserve...

It is unreasonable to have dual citizenship unless you are spending real significant time in both countries. that is impractical for 99% of the world so forget them.

Now is the time for man to learn to live as a world citizen. Enmity among people is outdated regardless of any reasons.

Yeah sure,

but loyalty should be multidimensional, like loyalty to your country, to you country of origin, to countries of similar culture, religion, and so on and so forth.

But prioritize your loyalties, so that you know which one to go for in case different loyalties are in conflict

Just as one has only one mother, similarly there is only one motherland, one must be loyal only to her.
