As far as India is concerned, when one mentions BPO ,what comes to the mind is:
1.Young collegians or people just out of college
2.A good amount of money
3.Late night shifts
What this translates to is - "kids get spoiled with too much money and liberty at too young an age" - at least in the minds of the elderly.
In the minds of the youth it is a great way to escape parent monitoring and a "direct ticket to night clubs and pubs".It is also the perception that BPO is the job for those who don't make it through some other career or those who want easy ,quick money. No one views it as a long term career option.
I read in a newspaper survey of youth views about BPO and most opined- "there is no scope for growth ", "doesnt add to your CV" etc.The way this can be changed is to bring forward examples of people who have made a fruitful career of this profession- someone like Narayana Murthy of IT- though that may take some time as BPO is still quite young. Also the media projection of BPO as people " just answering calls for a good amount of money " should change.
Also what acts as a deterrent is the emergence of scams and reports of abuse by foreign customers. So an image building and cleaning up exercise(like NASSCOM is doing) is needed.
I haven't worked in a BPO so i don't know the insides and whether it indeed deserves social recognition equivalent to other MNC's(it does have economic recognition by way of contributing to the government coffers). But if the media projection and public perception of BPO's is wrong - then it ought to be corrected and the industry should be given its proper place in the society.

BPO Industry- Firstly we must know what is in the BPO Industry, We can commonly call it a call centre Jobs, working for a MNC here and working as a call centre executive .
As u well know that being a Call centre Executive there is a very limited Growth and also the Job security is not too long lasting, So the Social recognition as the other MNC is not available to this sector.
