WWIII could start any day, any year since the era of "the bomb" began. But there's instability outside of the middle east. North Korea seems to be joining the game, and Castro is in poor health in Cuba and who knows who will assume control of that regime?
It's not just that Bush has lost credibility, it's that he's not respected all that much here and abroad.
That said, nothing seems imminent, there's always been turmoil in the middle east, and a lot of other folks in other countries will credibility and respect are working to keep some measure of peace in that region.

Obama could quietly discourage Israel from launching any important assaults, however they're nonetheless viable. Unfortunately for Obama, he's going to be underneath the thumb of the professional-Israel foyer or he would not have a moment time period, in gentle of its domination of our politics. So all he'd do within the occasion of an assault on Iran is urge an finish to combating and the begin of a brand new peace approach.

Most likely bush's "new plan" to do the same thing will result in him giving up on the war, iraq will implode and gas prices will jump up again. Iran will become even richer from this and will have no reason to attack the US, and any attacks in iraq will be small scale, they won't want nuclear war, they aren't that stupid, they just want the power nukes bring. Kim Jong wasn't taken seriously until he had nukes, so it obviously works.

Justdavesplace : The closest we have been in the last 20 years was in 1988 when the Doomsday Clock was set to 'Six minutes to midnight'. 4 years earlier it was down to only three minutes.
Most recently it went to 7 minutes when the U.S. rejected a series of arms control treaties in 2002, but at the moment it will be higher than that.
