It will grow if you deposit it into a long term savings account with the highest possible growing interest. I used to spend all my money as soon as I was paid on eating out, going out, expensive clothing... Then I met my husband who is a non-materialistic minimalist. We compliment each other greatly when it comes to money matters. My love of good quality items combined with his less is more approach means we have a spacious uncluttered minimalist home with each item unique and of great quality . I now know that having money in an account,("security") is more satisfying than having too many things that will only end up in the bin or in a cluttered corner somewhere,("waste"). You can be tight and have fun... just as easily as you can burn a hole in your pocket have fun, than be broke again... Once you know what really matters to you, your priorities and what you can/cannot afford then you will know how to save/spend you money.
