You could try doing a couple different things.
1. Bake sale
2. Yard sale
3. Craft sale

We have done all 3 things at my Church and they go over real well. The way to do it is to have the congregation to make baked goods and craft items. You also get them to donate items to the yard sale. If you can get it all together you could even tie them all in on one sale.

People always go for food. The usually fund raisers by selling food is still the most popular. I know one lady in our church always in-charge of garage sale. People bring all items to the church. She price them, and sale them. These two things are always draw people there. We also baking pies and cakes and sell drinks. Don't for get to plan and tell everyone. Put in the News Paper and announce to the church. Plan is the most important. You can get in to a fight for just want to do something good in church.

have a poker run for motorcycles. this is where participants play a game of poker using real cards that are drawn at different church sites (or any other place). we had one and it was fun and each church pastor was so excited. this gave them a chance to invite non-church members to their church. we had a prayer at each church. at the end of the day after 5 cards were drawn. the best hand wins. all you need is a deck of cards for each church. your first church can be your first and fifth card draw if you don't have 5 facilities willing to participate. each cycle pay 15 dollars to enter. it is fun. all proceeds go to your cause. good luck.
