I think the dictionary meaning of intellectual is a bit vague.

If I was to think of someone as intellectual, I would be refering to that person as intelligent, someone with more depth than the average person, informed, smart but in a knowing way, well read and someone who speaks with knowledge.

Intellectual means one who is intelligent to a particular trait / a branch ./ a trade

in future it could also be the name for next or next next
