During WW2 the japanese army were guilty of many well documented war crimes. Why was Germany punished so heavily, when japan was simply occupied by the U.S.? ( I know I'm 60 years to late, no need to point that out) Please explain to me if I'm wrong as this is an issue that causes me much distress

The Japanese did not go unpunished. Some 5,600 Japanese personnel were prosecuted in more than 2,200 trials. More than 4,400 Japanese personnel were convicted and about 1,000 were sentenced to death.

Maybe because Germany wanted to take over the world and Japan just wanted Hawaii. But, we did take care of both places quite well (we bombed 2 major cities in Japan). Now, if we'd just go back to being the country that doesn't take any crap, we'd be ok.

as he said we dropped TWO ATOMIC BOMBS on them. If you add up both cities casualties of 214,000 it only scratches the surface. I have heard estimates of 800,000 plus from fallout and subsequent fast and slow painful, deformed deaths from radiation poisoning plus all the land had to be evacuated til the radiation cleared for say 20 years.

You thing we are in a war now? This shook the WORLD. THIS is why america is still #1, NOT other nations respect for our system of government or our culture but FEAR.

Your country is the one that should be punished for war crimes. Two Atomic bombs were dropped destroying an area of the size of San Francisco and there are still people from the new generation who are now handicapped coz they inherited the radiation from their parents. And your infamous country did this when Japan were already surrounded. Im sick and tired of you Americans, not mentioning your country drop bomb every year in Colombia and Iraq.
