It is my experience that the H is slowly being taken out of HR. The reason behind this is $$ and the fact that in most organizations overhead or HR is considered to be an expense that should be minimized at every opportunity. So why pay an experienced HR person to work on site when you can route all HR needs through a central location and pay less.

With 24 hour call centers and central processing centers most all HR needs can be met over the phone or on-line. Granted, the call centers and processing centers are manned by people, they are generally disinterested people with little or no accountability. Even the application processes are automated and on-line.

While these changes are not altogether bad, they are definitely changing the HR environment and creating a less personal more frigid atmosphere. This change in atmosphere in turn affects the employees and applicants and can have a negative impact on the organization as a whole.
