Oh yeah, I was stereotyped as goth since I was in elementary school. I'm EXTREMELY pale and only look good in black and dark red. So I was made fun of all the time and they kept calling me goth. So overtime I eventually just became what they were calling me...perhaps to spite them. But being goth isn't a bad thing. It's just a style choice. Same with preps and geeks. Change what they are wearing and they'd be called something else. It has very little to do with personality half the time. Don't take it as an insult, just brush it off as someone not understanding you or your taste.

What exactly is Goth? Can you be just a little bit of it? I ask my daughter if she is. She's 13. She don't wear all black, but she wears mostly boy clothes and I never hear her music on the radio. She gets her music online and burns her own cd's...same w/ipod?

Once, I was in Chillan (a city south of Santiago, Chile) and I was dressed in black, however not in the goth kinda sense, and a little girl (about 5) stared at me..
Her mom grabbed her and told her.. "Don't look at them or the goths will eat you!"
And they left

I wear black nail varnish quite a lot and no one I've met on the street has ever said a thing about it.
