As you know he is expelled for two games.
Is this too mild penalty?

Yes i agree, but this is whole southafrican thing, its part of a bigger problem, inzimam warned after the attitude of Andre Nel,and warned if he is not stopped such incidents would be repeated in the series, and what about Pathetic and hopeless umpiring ?And who is to be blamed when Shoaib comes in team in th nxt test and tries to Bounce them off?
Its not him alone..look at his father's statement..I am posting the link..
I think ICC is on the foothills of another controversial series until steps are taken to ensure series continues in good spirit..
Not to mention the umpire giving biased decisions was billy B.The other umpire at "Ovals"who escaped the spot light due to a side role and the title "West indian"Who r not suppose to be racialists..

Hi Kitty,

I too think that Gibbs was unfairly penalised for his remarks, he should have been repremanded for unsporting or ungentlemanly conduct, afterall he did publicly insult members of the opposition. But as for racism, i think it was because he is South African and the media and authorities automatically assume he is a racist. Would the same punishment have been handed down if he had insuled Australian or English players in the same way? I doubt it.

You ertainly are a real SA girl eh? Cricket and Rugby, I bet you love Biltong and Castle too!!!!

I think that given the ICC's measure to work with on this case, it was a good call. The only previous instance of something like this was the Darren Lehmann case from 2003, where he got a 5 match suspension. Given the provocation in the Gibbs case, I think it was an appropriate call. Whilst there was provocation, you still cannot allow racism.

The sad part of this is that nothing will happen to those Pakistani supporters who were racially abusing the South African players.

Games are played for physical and mental health..n if any player starts getting abusive he should be punished or atleast worned in such a way that the act is not repeated by any other player...good for Gibbs!

It is way too harsh, he, like all of us would, just had enough of people insulting sport players and said what I bet millions say sitting before their television sets. So stop being childish and get on with game is what I say.
