Ella, only because the most recent Grace I can think of is from BB, then again there is Grace Kelly to consider...! What about Ella-Grace or Grace-Ella, in fairness both are beautiful, feminine names and I don't think your daughter will complain in later years whatever you decide. May be wait until she is born and see what she looks more like/suits more (look up the meanings of both names too!).

Grace I think - Ella is lovely but Ella/Ellie have been in the top 5 girls names for years. There would be loads of Ella's at school, along with about 500 Jacks.

I would say Grace, although Ella is lovely also. Think Grace sounds beautiful though. Perhaps look up the meanings and that may help you decide.

On a personal preference, the name Grace wins hands down. Ella rhymes with rubella and salmonella - in this day and age I would not encourage names that would make the child an easy target for teasing. Oh, the name Ella phonetically is identical to the Greek verb for come here so there would be confusion on holidays!! Other than that both are lovely names and could you not consider either as a middle name so you can have both names and neither partner has to compromise!
