Most people pay under $10,000 in federal and state income taxes a year. Last year I paid around $100,000 in state and federal taxes, and the year before that it was almost double that. But I recieve the same service from the government as someone who pays $5000 a year. The cops don't gaurd my house better, the mail man still screws up my mail, I still have to wait in line at the DMV, my kids don't recieve a better education in schools. In all walks of life if you pay more you get more except with our government. It makes me so mad when the feds just blow our tax dollars like in Iraq they supposedly lost 3 billion dollars, it was paid out to scamers, and Bush's new plan is going to cost $800 billion. This stuff might not be a big deal to those who only have to pay 5 or 6 thousand dollars a year but to me this is 40% of my yearly income I am having to fork over, it just eats me up..........

Well, if you're paying so much in taxes and you haven't figured out how to get more/better government than the average guy then you've got a lot to learn to catch up.

In 1900, the average American paid about 5% of their earnings to support government in the form of taxes (local, state and federal combined). By 2000, that number was up to over 33% and this fails to calculate in the combined public debt which was essentially non-existent then but now most people (much less politicians) seem confident to address any solutions toward.

In 1913 legislation was passed that put a private corporation in charge of our central banking, national monetary policy and therefore the entire American economy. This private corporation was said to be able to stabilize the American economy yet precipitated and perpetuated the greatest financial crime that Americans have ever endured: The Great Depression.

What is this privately owned corporation? The Federal Reserve System. It makes money from thin air and is the most profitable business in the world.

Current Fed Chairman Bernanke had the following to say at Milton Friedman's 90th birthday bash. "You're right. We did it and we're very sorry." For years, the folks who own the Federal Reserve have called people like me conspiracy theorists but the cat is out of the bag now.j

Ever wonder why an American family used to be able to survive on one income when they had more mouthes to feed (children) than we (typically) do today while it takes two incomes to barely make ends meet in today's economy? Do you still think it's all happenstance?

The people who own the Federal Reserve also control many other corporations by controlling the majority stock of those corporations. Some of these include, but are not limited to: CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, network radio, 1,000's of newspapers and magazines and many so-called independent or alternate media websites on the internet. Do you still think you're getting the "news" from the media?

Do you still believe that America is a free nation? Or is it that this is what you want to believe. Josepsh Stalin was right about one thing: tell a lie long enough and soon enough people will believe it.

Is this epidemic an inidictment of the Demonrats? Or maybe it's the Republicans? I can tell you this because I've been on both sides of "the aisle."

It was the Demonrats who passed this legislation in 1913 and Jerry Brown was right. They're both bought and paid for - Republicans and Demonrats alike. The owners fo the Federal Reserve System have a 14-point agenda for America. One of those 14 points includes finding compliant public servants to do their bidding - regardless of political labels.

There are very few leaders in America who will stand up to these monsters. Congressman Ron Paul is one of them and that's why he has my entire support. Thank God he's interested in the 2008 Presidential race.

If you learned anything feel free to research the truth. Just beware of the sources you look to in finding your answers. If you find this illuminating please copy and pass along to your fellow Americans.

Both models can work. Henry David Thoreau wrote the government that governs least governs best. Katrina was a disaster. It was because of beuracracy not moving because it was too big they had infighting and it was about money at the top echolons of govt. SOmething similar happened in the 1920s and government, our government, got supplies in by plane faster than under this government. WHere does the Buck stop? So I think you can have low taxes and great government services, it might not be health care for all, The problem right now is we have spent too much money and gone into debt since the 1980s the debt has gone from 1 trillion to 8 trillion in 25 years, and now we need a serious tax increase to pay off this debt.

No, you should not get more or better service from the govt because you pay more. You chose your lifestyle, job, house. If you can't afford the taxes on your house, move into a more reasonable neighborhood. If you don't want to pay the income tax you are currently paying, switch jobs to a lower paying job.

I work in government & I listen to people complaining about every little thing. Most people do not understand what the govt does and what its role is. We aren't out to get every penny we can from residents (remember, we are residents too) and it is not legal for the govt to collect more than it will use to operate the city, town, county, state or federal govt. We are not a for profit organization.

I won't say that I agree with how things are run all of the time. But we do what we think is best for the majority of the population. We also have to deal with state and federal mandates that suck up a lot of time and money. Medicaid in New York State is out of control and it costs taxpayers millions.

To be blunt, we cannot cater to the rich to give them better service. We are too busy trying to keep the bare essentials operating.

Your self-serving attitude does not work in a democracy. In the USA, we are a socialist democracy (weather people want to admit it or not). This means that one segment of the population supports others in that same population. When you go to the doctor for example, if you have insurance, you generally pay a "community fee" for those poor uninsured souls. But dont forget, healthy people who have insurance like you but never use it, pay for a portion of your costs because they paid premiums and never used it.
Comparing this to our current tax structure, the more the USA gives you the opportunity to make money, the more you pay! After all, without our great country having the intricate infrastructure in place to help you make money, you would be just another broke slob!

I think that's kinda against what this country stands for, (unfortunately).

In an extremely right wing world (that would still have taxes) you would get better service.

I sympathize with you. But, I am glad you exist. Last year I paid about $2,000 in federal income tax. This year I will get over $16,000 in Social Security benefits. My thanks go out to all tax payers.
