You need to gain respect from your work as oppose to your humour.
Why does it matter if they think you are gay? Stop trying so hard and be yourself more, if they don't like you for who or what you are then tough s**t that's their loss!

What's the question? Oh, Why? Hard to tell. What respect are you seeking? Self respect is all you need. Just do your job and be polite. Being professional at work will get you more respect than games and jokes.

There's a reason for separation between management and the workers. You see, the reason they aren't respecting you as much is that they see you more as a peer than a superior. You have to reinforce that once in a while so that they realize your position.
