Obviously this is totally hypothetical (and unrealistic), but it is interesting to think about.

All of the world leaders agree to sign a world peace treaty. The price is your execution. Would you lay down your life in order to make the world a better place...?

(Let's say that Hanging is the execution method)

Peace can never be attained through any execution or even sacrifice of life. Peace can come only through peaceful means.

In a heartbeat. Giving up this little insignificant life of mine and world peace in return? So that my children and their children also all other children have one less thing to worry about. I'd try to haggle free food, shelter and health care in this deal before I check out though.

You're right.. this is a hypothetical and unrealistic question; World peace wouldn't be achieved in this way but something interesting to think.

Hell no! Peace never lasts, so even if world peace was accomplished...it would be extremely temporary. I will not offer my life for that...I don't believe that World Peace can be accomplished anyway. Too many people have too many different ways of thinking, and there will always be a conflict of views...and if we are to pull a "Brave New World" stunt, I would not consider it peace but instead it is control.

I would give my life not just in exchange for world peace, but even in exchange for my little nation's peace and freedom no matter what kind of execution will be used.

That's interesting.

Human life in general is meaningless, so I am disinclined to sacrifice my measly 40 more years for something that still adds no real meaning to human existence. But then, why am I holding so tightly to my measly 40 years? So I guess I'd have to reluctantly say yes I would.

Besides, I suspect I would soon be killed if everyone knew it was my fault that there was no world peace.

No. cause the treaty would be violated very soon and i would have died for nothing (hypothetical answer to a hypothetical and unrealistic question - therefore i create the aftermath as i suppose it would go)

The problem is, how to trust this contract.

If for some reason you can convince me that world peace can be restored for say 10 years, yes I will give away my life, whatever the method.

i do not imagine a real hero is going in to harass in basic terms to develop right into a hero, that is an outstanding idea that they save on with and do something to get to that presious purpose, they could even threat their existence in that way. I beleive they attain to a level that they could't provide up persevering with, like that is their accountability to wrestle for his or her purpose. There would not be any confort for them without doing something for his or her achivement. i'm no longer that solid and that i don't have the type of presious purpose in my existence to make me wrestle and threat my existence for it yet I continuously respect such heros.

No way. Us non-religuous folk tend to be a little shy when it comes to our mortality.

In fact, I don't think I'd sacrifice my life for anyone or anything, though I don't have kids so I can't make that argument.
