Is it because the silly girls in the house are racist, or just that they're jealous, braindead little trollops? Or both?

Background: Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has received over 2,000 complaints about alleged racism in Celebrity Big Brother against Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty. Housemates Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara have been seen making fun of the Bollywood star's accent. Over the weekend, model Lloyd and ex-S Club 7 star O'Meara poked fun at Shilpa's accent and criticised a chicken dinner she made as "too spicy" and "undercooked". Jade Goody's mother, Jackiey Budden, repeatedly referred to Shilpa as "the Indian" while she was featured on the show and refused to try to pronounce her name.

Channel 4 described the issue as "girly rivalry" but an anti-bullying charity has said she is "definitely" a victim.

I've watched Celebrity BB here and there this year out of boredom, despite usually avoiding it like the plague!

Personally, I think Jackiey (who is not only a heroin addict with no personality, but is also illiterate, judging by how she spells her name) was unnecessarily rude and ignorant, but I couldn't class it as racism, just stupid labelling. Offense has a lot to do with intent and, let's face it, she does not know what day it is. If she was American, she would live in a trailer, have no teeth, play the banjo and be married to someone called Cleatus.

As for Danielle, I don't think she's racist. She just comes across like a silly, insecure little girl with nothing better to do than flash her boobs, and nothing else to offer. Jo's clearly jealous.

The content in which this is being done in the BB house is done purely in "spite" towards Shilpa as I've not noticed the housemates in question mimick the accents of the others.

She's not being picked on due to her race - she's a stunning well kept woman amongst a pack of cackling has been females.

Why do people who claim they are not interested bother to take so much time to say so?

I did not consider this is be racist abuse and then I realised that Channel 4 have admitted Jack used the P word to describe Shilpa. It was beeped out and can be seen on u-tube. No-one present corrected him and this concerns me as he 'hates' her. A very strong word to use unless he has another issue with her or her background?

Everyone deserves respect and I find it sad when people chose to revert back to this childish schoolground behavour when they feel threatened. I think Jermaine is spot on when he talked about Jade feeling threatened by Shilpa and the possiblity of Jade going through a crisis.

I also found it sad that instead of being proud that she was famous for 'just' being in Big Brother, Jade took this as an insult.

Jade was censured by anti-bully charity Act Against Bullying, which, ironically, she supports. Dropping her picture from its website, the charity said Jade’s behaviour was “unforgivable”.

They have placed a police car outside and Danielle's family are potentially being threatened by anit-racist groups. These girls need to be very careful. It doesn't matter if they intend this to be racist! Jade, Jo and Danielle, learn to dodge the spit and eggs!

I think the core problem is simple bullying... but there might be a racial element. It started off as simple friction and moved on to overt bullying. Now I think the racial element is slowly emerging. We cant be sure it was there from the start but it has deffinately made an appearance now. Hopefully it wont get any further. Of all the group I think Danielle is just behaving in a Bullying manner. I think she would have acted like that if Shilpa was a blonde Icelandic singer or a South American model. But the others do seem to be motivated by a degree of racism in either motivation, language or belief. Examples such as Jade's "dream" that Shilpa and her family invaded and attacked her, Jo thinking Shilpa was part of an elaborate conspiracy and Jack seems content to make jibes at her and, its been reported, used a racial slur to describe Shilpa. So I think Jermaine is correct to say that the antagonism IS about the colour of her skin. Their antagonism about "the indian" and people in India and the accent and her manner and and and... it does seem to fit the common racial profile. Just swap "Indian" for "Jew" and suddenly it looks VERY bleak and nasty. SO YES IT IS RACIAL ABUSE. It just seems low key because she is an actuall foreigner and open about being from a different culture. We wouldn't just be asking questions, but signing up to anti-racist groups, if Shilpa was born in Manchester.

***I just noticed the comment from "Emily" in support of Jackie and stating that Shilpa is evil... Not quite sure where that came from! But I assume that by her logic Hitler could be excused his tirades because of his war wound. The fact is that it isnt that hard to pronounce her name. Years ago TV and RAdio presenters used to make fun of foreign names and customs on air until it was seen as fueling racism in this country and being disrespectful. I'm amazed that so many people fail to see that point. But perhaps the defenders of Jade and her mother justify their beliefs because Shilpa is "only" an indian??? SHAME!***

My sister is watching B.B right now and I'm absolutely disguisted at how she's being treated. From what I could just gather there was an incident with her blocking the toilet with something. No one told her not to yet took great pleasure in ridaculing her for it, one of the loosers even told her to pull it out with her teeth! Shilpa is a massive bollywood star who's used to being mobbed by fans back home. The british public may not know who she is but she is deffinately more of a celebrity than the other z-listers in there. I think the others are jealous of her success and the fact that she's still going to have a career when she leaves, while they dissappear into obscurity and far from the thoughts of the rest of the country.

As for Jade's mother calling her "The Indian" - Personally I would've given her a good smack in the mouth!

& as for jade herself making fun of her accent - I do recall the veiwers of her 1st B.B stint recoiling in horror and then laughing until they cried, mocking her "Am I minging Big Bruvaaaaa?"

Shilpa - You have my vote! your the only one worthy of being called a "celebrity", the rest are just talentless, jealous, desperate wastes of space!

Its not really anything to do with her race even though Jack is trying to make out it is, he really fancies her, she is so sophisticated and beautiful and he is with a minger like Jade, so he's taking it out on her, the younger girls in there are being bitchy as they haven't got any degree of class in them so she's an easy target and of course they are such gutless idiots they got to talk silly and petty things about her behind her back, if they have a genuine concern then all they simply have to do is ask her about it but they know they are just nippicking so they talk about her most of the time behind her back, they could make nasty comments about Jermaine if it was to do with his skin colour but they don't as he's a man and they are jealous of Shilpa as she makes them all look as common as muck (which they are) yeah she may be playing the game but so are they and if anyone in the house says they aren't playing a game they are having a laugh, the younger girls are trollops and who the heck is that silly Danielle girl anyway, a model, thats gotta be a joke!

I dont know if it is meant as racism. The probably too ignorant to know what that is. Come on we are talking about Jade Goody!!! The one that wonders why eskimo's dont turn into ice cubes. I only watched for first time last night for a bit and that was enough for me to see that Jade, Danielle (Who is she anyway ) and Jo are acting like a bunch of 8 year olds in the playground. Or is that an injustice to kids

For all the "its not racism just girly banter" brigade: you obviously missed Jo's comment the other night when she claimed that "if people in india all eat raw chicken like Shilpa cooked that would explain why they are so thin and sick."

Its not raw food but poverty you ignorant *****.

Still think its just banter??? Its not jumping on a racism bandwagon its just human decency - something that Shilpa has and the jade brigade should try someday.

Jade, Jo and Danielle are racist, uneducated, uncultured bullies! I am disgusted by the way they are treating Shilpa. Big Brother should evict all three of them. I am also shocked that none of the other house mates are supporting Shilpa, they need to back Shilpa up and tell the three bullies how awful they are treating Shilpa. Yes, it's game show, however, this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated! It's as if Big Brother condones this type of behaviour, because if they didn't, then they would insure that they were taken off the show!

I'm not sure if there being racist or not, but I definitely think they are treating her bad. I hate bully's :-( and I think that Danielle, Jo and Jade are disgusting, there's no need for it!!! It probably is down to jealousy. If they think Shilpa is such a bad cook, they should do it their bloody selves. xx

Racism and all other forms of discrimination ARE bullying!

It is just bullying on specific grounds. While I feel sorry for Shilpa and don't want her to suffer...I am glad that so many people are getting the opportunity to see at first hand how these slimy scummy racists operate.

I hope people will look at what happens around them both at home and at work and start to recognise how common these types of racists are.

For Channel 4 to call this 'girly rivalry' is not only denying the obvious...it is also an insult to women. Are the saying that all women are racists????
