If trypsin is an enzyme that degrades proteins,why are the cells not killed by trypsin?

there's 2 qns..pls help me...IN NEED OF HELP URGENTLY

But trypsin will kill cells! Try leaving your cells soaking in trypsin for over an hour, there won't be as many alive afterwards. The cells survive quick treatments of proteases because the enzymes can't penetrate the plasma membranes of the cells, so all the crucial proteins are safe inside the cells.
