I recently got a DVD recorder, and tried last night to record a home movie from my Hi-8 Camcorder. Connections were correct, and I followed the manual step by step, the only thing I can think of is that I used 16x DVD-Rs as the format.....but I am pretty sure that this Recorder accepts 16x. Also i did turn the TV off while recording, but that shouldnt matter...should it? It recorded the whole 2hrs, I added a title, and finalized the disk, but when I went to play it back all I got was a black screen....HELP

But cant a 16x drive play or record on any of the formats? I could see an 8x drive not being able to play 16x discs but not Vice versa.....

The number and the x after it are write/read speeds
you cant place a 4x or 16x disk into a 8x drive, since it cant read at its proper speed. for your problem, since there aren't many standards, buy a couple diferent speeds for your Hi-8, and see which works best.

sixteen x velocity is two times as rapid than 8x. yet for my section, by using adventure, a slower recording velocity produces greater helpful high quality. So if I particularly provide you the possibility to checklist, i might elect 8x.
