If you owe past child support for when you didn't have the child, you need to pay that. As for now, when you do have the child, I would suspect you need a new court order to change the payment schedules.

Back child support is money you should have already paid. You don't get a refund. Usually, the money is paid through the county clerks office. If he got any government help because you weren't paying, the money goes there. You can talk to a lawyer about it, but you still owe ordered back child support. You are only hurting your own credit rating by not paying.

I believe if it is back child support then you are required to pay. But ask your local child support enforcement. A lawyer is also helpful. I hope that since you now have custody that you have filed a petition to stop paying him child support. Also, now that you have custody you should file to have him pay you child support. These are only suggestions and you need help from professionals to deal with this situation. I hope you and your child get what is owed to you. But please take care of your responsibilities first.

Yes, it does not matter where the child is or what the other parent has done. You have to pay the support as per the court order. The only way that you can change this is to get a modification to the original order. Get an attorney and do it NOW. You will have to pay up to the time the court enters the modification.

Wow, this child has some great parents. One an abusive alcoholic & the other is a non-supportive slacker who keeps having children. My first suggestion is for you to do what it takes to never have another child. Straighten your own life out & move on.

you are going to have to call the support office , tell them whats going on , you may need to get a temp court order showing you have the child in your home , if they placed the child with you ask them for paperwork , everything resolves around paperwork these days , call your support officer they may put a temp stop on it . if not call your courts it should be no problem for you to get a temp stop order . i went through this about a year ago ,its alot of calling but well worth it in the end good luck

If it's BACK child support, that means you weren't supporting the child for a period of time and the other parent took up the slack. You owe.
