Advantages: Silly Americans will understand.

Disadvantages: Clumsy to work with. Often requires fractions instead of decimals. Conversion to greater (feet, yards, miles) and lesser units of length (mils) requires arcane, esoteric knowledge.

The inch is understood in the U.S. Therefore, it is advantageous, for clarity in the U.S. to use incehs. The rest of the world uses metrics which can be expressed as decimals or using decimals, making computation easier. This is a disadvantage of using inches. Another disadvantage of the inch is that it does not convert easily to centimeters. In making measurements, the inch is not as exact as the centimeter, but advantage really is determined by what you are measuring and what you are asked to measure with, as in tool like a ruler or tape measure.

Inches and the imperial system of measurements are obsolete. The only advantage to using inches in a project is because that's what you've always used, assuming you're American.

Other than being an outdated system, the imperial methods divide larger measurements into unwieldy smaller sections; like one foot has 12 inches, a yard has 3 feet, etc. This makes conversions to larger (or smaller) dimensions, when required, extremely cumbersome.

There is an international agreement for a measuring system with clear definitions of the units which are meter(m) for length) Kilogram(kg) for mass and second(s) for time.
This system is understood by anyone in the world.
So using inch is an international disadvantage

there is no specific advantage
the disadvantage is the ease with which computation can be done in the MKS is not available with inch measure

There is none, unless you live out of the US. If the school project is a theory or whatnot you should do it in meters as it is understood throughout the whole planet easily.
