If the boss is having a fling with the new hire, what can I do, as HR, to protect the company. I warned him not to do as I was able to see it coming, however, the temptation was too hard to resisit, appearantly. I would love specific resolutions or ideas about how I can protect not only the company, but him as the owner and boss. Thanks so much for any assistance provided.

Tell him he should not get his potatoes where he gets his meat. If he values his company he should understand the risks involved by having an affair with an employee. He could lose his company. I assume he is married. If so he should realize his wife will take him for everything she can get and his "affair" may end up suing for sexual harassment. I suggest sitting him down and talking with him if feel your relationship is friendly enough. If not, leave him articles on morals and conduct in the work place and possible some cases regarding sexual harassment in the work place. Maybe he will get the hint.

I think it would be best of you call and tell his wife about it, anonymously, of course. This way you know something will come to an end.

The best advice I have ever gotten was years ago in Chicago..an old black man told me " Don't get your meat where you get your bread " .
