I had the pleasure of watching his last fight while having lunch with my fiancee in Kokomo's in Angeles City. All the trike drivers and many of the workers were watching too. It was an exciting fight with Manny earning a KO in the third round. What was most fun for me was watching the natives and seeing how very proud they were that day.
A week later, it was being shown again on a tv in a video store at SM Clark and there was a huge crowd gathered around to watch. We could hardly get out of the store because of the crowds.

He was very fortunate to be taught how to box at an early age and blessed to have the determination to become the best.

He is a poor businessman. A good/honest businessman would have known you have to pay taxes on your income. A good/honest businessman would not enter into identical contracts with two different companies to be his promoter. He was fortunate to have hired Mr. Finkle to clear up all the lawsuits filed against him for breaking contract agreements and not paying taxes unfortunately Mr. Finkle requested in August 2006 to be released of his contract.

He certainly is not qualified to hold political office and manage the affairs of the citizens because he has demonstrated he cannot manage his own personal affairs. He has also demonstrated he is corrupt by not honoring contracts he put his name to. He has demonstrated he has little regard for the law when he took the law in to his own hands and beat up a shoplifter in one of his convienent stores. He accepted a one million pesos condo from the Mayor of Manila so he could claim Manila as his resident and run for Vice Mayor of Manila is that not violating the spirit of the law. He will choose General Santos or Manilia as a permanent resident according to what is best for Manny's political career without regard to the people of General Santos.

If he is so patriotic why didn't he purchase his new Mercedes in the Philippines. If it was not available it could have been ordered. The $6000 plus he spent on clothes at one cash register in a department store in the States could have been spent in the Philippines. He did not have to ask the City of Manila and Quezon to exempt him from paying income taxes on the fights shown in those cities, but he did. All the rest of us have to pay our taxes on income and we have a heck of lot less than Manny.

What example did the National Heroe set for the young people of the Philippines when his wife caught him with another woman in Davao?

A great boxer he is - a SAINT he is not - if he had not been blessed with the ability to box he may have been one of those tricylce drivers he is always comparing his opponents to when he wants to put them down. He certainly is not humble as some have suggested! I hope he does not turn out to be the Philippine version of the U.S. Mike Tyson.

He's a prize fighter and surely a gem. While its a bit cliche that his fights are for the Pinoys, he's also in it for the money. And he's not just a fighter, he's an enterprising businessman too..his food shop ala 711 and shawarma booths are all over Gen. San.
