I've been studying in the CISCO Academy for about six months now, and I'd like some confirmation on the OSI model. I would like to know what different devices operate on the different layers, i.e Application, Physical etc.

The OSI (open system interconnect) model is completely different from TCP/IP. TCP/IP is a protocol that helps computers to talk to each other. It is the most widely used protocol in the world. It can be called an internet protocol and it works in the transport layer of the OSI model. The OSI model consist of 7 layers and they are 1 physical layer (cable) 2 data link layer 3 network layer (router) 4 transport layer (tcp) 5 session layer 6 presentation layer (encryption and decryption) 7 application layer (ftp smtp etc)
