Usually, when they become sexually active or at the age of 18.

My personal belief is directly after she begins her first period. If she is having problems say, abdominal pain, or cramping, or her moods are jumping up and down quickly, or you recognize it as looking like PMS, and not just a thing children go through as they learn, then I would take her also.

Your best bet though, is to call your Doctors office, and ask to speak to a nurse. Ask the nurse when she, in her professional oppinion believes is the best age to take your daughter to the OB/GYN. Be honest with the nurse as to how your daughter has been acting and see if the nurse sees or catches anything that needs to be looked into. Remember nurses can't give diagnoses over the phone, so if you ask in a way that's trying to get a diagnosis, they will just tell you to bring her in anyways, but if you ask the nurse for her professoinal advice, they would be more ampt to give you that advice.

My mom took me when I was 18.

I think I've read that a female should start seeing an OB/GYN at onset of sexual activity or by age 18.

She's not really old enough to even like boys. Unless you think she's having sex I'd wait a few more years.

Usually the first trip to the OB/GYN is when she gets her first period or if she has some type of problem that a Dr would need to look at.

i think it would be best to ask your obgyn...just pick up the phone and call. No one could have a better answer for you. And keep in mind what a wonderful mom you are for being responsible about this. Alot of mom's won't even face this topic.

Well depending on if she has had a period yet I would think. If she did than maybe its time to take a little trip.

a. If she starts having problems.
b. When she goes on birth control.

I'd call the doctor's office and ask for their opinion. Or ask her pediatrician.

Not till she is older and has become sexually active or has any problems that she needs to be seen earlier.
