There is no such thing as "the right age" to do anything. If you're ready to learn PHP, then you're ready. At the end of the day what's the worst that can happen? You try, it's too hard, and you have to try again in a year or so. It's not exactly the end of the world...

Heh heh... showing my age... there was no PHP when I was 15 :P lol

Hey Dude,

Age has nothing to do with it. It is all about when you are ready. I know 30 year old who aren't ready to live on their own. Why, they are not ready! :)

If you want something bad enough, you will get it, no matter how old you are.

I had a friend who was 60 who really, really wanted to learn html. He didn't use the excuse he was too old, it took too much time, etc. He just did it.

Now, I will say from his experience, it probably took him 4 times as long as a normal person to learn html, but, in the end, HE KNOWS HTML! Nobody really cares how long it took him or how old he is. Does he know it? YES! end of story.

So, do not let age be a factor in your decision. HOWEVER, what you do with your knowledge has a great deal with maturity.

Make wise and mature decision with what you do with what you know. You can use it for good or for evil. You can use it for short term gain and long term pain.

Too often I see young programmers with a goal in mind, without being able to see the big picture. They may do a program that "Gets the job done" but has long lasting problems far beyond their tenure. It is guys like me who come in and pick up the pieces and have to redo immature code.

Good luck my friend.

Tom

I can't say that there is a right or wrong age to learn anything, I guess what you have to look at is how serious you are to learn this language and how much time and effort you are willing to put into it. If your willing to work hard at it im sure you will succeed and many colleges offer these courses sometimes free. I wish you all the best for your future and never let anyone tell you that you cant do it. If you believe you can then you will.

PHP is a server-side HTML embedded scripting language. It provides web developers with a full suite of tools for building dynamic websites: native APIs to PHPs, never to young to learn

It's always best to start early. Before you put any money into it, you may want to look at www.w3schools.com and try a few of their tutorials.
