Norton Anti virus or internet security?

Question

Is there really much difference between the norton anti virus software and the norton internet security?

I don't know which to get. All i want is for my pc to be protected from virus's and from people who want to hack into my computer (ie Spyware)

Get Norton Internet Security which will included Anti virus. You can get it cheap on Amazon this is easy to install and will keep your PC clean for 12 months.

Watch out for both, Norton has a distinct hole in it that alot of hackers can get through regardless of the protection. However, the Internet Security is better than the AV.

You'll notice that Spyware comes through different points than both normal hackers, and Virus'. In addition to the suggestions that are in my following mini-paragraph, go for spysweeper and possibly another if you can find it, Spyware Doctor works well too.

My personal recommendation is to get Nortons AV and IS, and if you can spare it, the Sophos packages, they're really good. No single virus blocker blocks all virus', so get a couple, Norton and Sophos are my choices, and I'm a programmer, don't like getting hacked.

norton virus scan is a stand alone virus scan but my advice is get internet security, that includes virus scan, privacy, firewall, and anti phishing, and everything else . be sure to disable windows firewall if you install norton and it would be a good idea to download windows defender which is free and also spybot s&d (search & destroy) which is free these are independent spyware scans both of which cover slightly different areas It would not be a bad idea to download windows live if you haven't already because it has lots of security built in just make sure that there are no conflicts (like with the firewall) but there really shouldn't be best of luck

Norton Anti-Virus has Internet worm protection and spyware protection built-in. I'm not sure if it actually has a firewall, but Windows XP has one by default.

Norton Internet Security has all that, plus a known firewall, parental controls, spam blockers, ad blockers, phishing protection, and it covers multiple users

I'm thinking that just the anti-virus program is enough for you. You can get phishing protection and ad blockers from IE7, and I assume your ISP email can block spam.

The AV is only that, an anti-virus. The Internet Security suite also has a firewall, anti-Spyware, and other features. It obviously will do more but will also require a tad bit more effort to setup and configure.

Well anti virus protects your computer from viruses. Wereas internet security software protects you from spyware, and adware.

Get an internet security as it comes with antivirus on it.

Various anti viruses softwares have different effects. I can give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...!You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at

If you need internet security, then install Norton Internet Security! :) It will defend your PC from internet-attacks. Norton Anti virus will only scan you PC for viruses.

Although norton is ok its very annoying and dont always stop the viruses etc. I can get very annoyed at it as it slows the pc right down. I guess use the security package if you must but look for an alternative as well.
