because fish are very relaxing to watch and very beautiful. Its a fun hobby its like having ur own little ocean or river in ur house. you get to see how the grown and act, and they even can get used to their owners and eat out of your hand and things like that its just a neat hobby to look at a beautiful tank and know that you grew that or arranged that. i guess the same way a person who raises plants does.

To keep them as pets, and when done right adds an interesting & decorative talking point to a room + there are hundreds of interesting, weird, wonderful & colourful fish you can keep in them and observe.

there are lots of reasons to keep fish in tanks. its a hobby that teaches nurturing skills that are very undervalued in most western cultures. goldfish have been kept for over 1000 years.
