you to show up for work? I think it's awful to risk your life trying to get to work, especially in bad weather. Whose with me?

I don't work in a hospital or for 911. I have a stupid office position. I work for a cruel company - that's my story and I'm sticking to it. To those who said the negative comments - you obviously don't work.

You are hired to do a job not as a friend or relitive. You are a michine that does something to earn money for the company. You mostly are just a number.

Understand now? Actually most employers are not that hard but still it takes people to make things happen and if they said all could stay home when the weather was bad then any day that was wet, too hot, too cold, snowy or anythig else that could be even slightly considered bad weather there would be some that would not go to work.

In most cases you do not have to risk your life to go to work. Well not any more than on any other day. Many can use public transport and many others can join forces and be with someone that has the proper vehicle for the weather. and some of you could just plain get out the ice cleats and walk to work.

I sure on't feel sory for you at all.
You probably even want paid for not going.

I defiantly know what your talking about here ;o) I did work for a large company and every time all the other business like this one shut down due to weather this one stays open. Sometimes they will even wait to see how many people do show up before deciding to close due to weather. ;o( So you break your neck getting there and then they say we're closing due to weather. grr

I do think it's cruel, but also realize that in some instances it can't be helped. Some people just HAVE to show up to work (911 operators, cops, firefighters, etc.).

Now if your boss just wants you in there to fill out your TCP reports then that's a different story...

If you can't use a sick day, slip in the parking lot and take workman's comp. Yeah, I know. Not practical, but a little revenge fantasy never hurts. My boss actually left EARLY on friday so she could drive home (before it got "too dangerous"), and I was left to work an hour and a half of overtime to finish up HER work. And they wonder why our morale isn't higher. Go figure.

We have tons of ice, but the roads are fine, getting to work here is no problem at all. I just wish I had power.

Go with care. World doesn't stop because of bad weather. Give yourself extra time. If the company has to stop production how is it going to pay your wages that you still expect from it?

Yes. If the roads are extremely hazardous and you're a nonessential employee, you need to stay home.
