anyone know the best way of getting boil over marks burn marks off halogen hobs(glass) without scratching the surface?

Ah Trootie!! how have you managed until now?!
Get a bottle of Easy-Do Cream Conditioner and a soft cotton cloth (a sock for example) to take off the marks. The cream costs around £3 £4 and be sure to get the cream not the powder. If you use the powder you still have to use the cream afterward to restore and protect the surface.

Would recommend a cleaning cream called HOB BRIGHT which is available in most major supermarkets and hardware stores in the UK.

AND just make sure the bulb is STONE COLD from NOT being on before you start!
The Halogens are very tender creatures, and will get discombobulated very easily!!!
