The blessed "tweener" - these are the children at about age 9-12 who are between being a child and being a teenager.
I like to refer to it as "teenager-light" - all the attitude of a teenager without all the refinement of eye-rolling and sighing, with a mild twist of innocent little kid we all once knew and loved before hormone shifts started!

A "tween" is a demeaning term for a preteen. When a child is between the ages of 9-12, they are considered preteens because they are pre-to a -teen (before a teen) Tween implies that they are more childish, as it contains child (Tween is a play on the word between, as in between a child and a teen.) Most people of this age prefer the term preteen because it implies more that they are almost a teen, instead of as a CHILD and BEFORE a TEEN, which they do not want to be known as a kid before a teenager, but almost assuredly would rather be known as almost a teen. Also, that age is trying enough with them not having a clue as to who they are, or trying to find their identity. DO NOT make them think that they are at an age that has no name for itself, they are having enough problems already. I am around preteens a lot, so they let me in on little gripes against adults like that, so I should know.

Well I'd tell you what I know, and since I'm a Muslim I'll tell you from an Islamic point of view. Basically we believe that a persons grave is his/her smaller Heaven, or Hell. And until the judgment day then that person is transferred to the real Heaven, or the real Hell. And Additionally, we do not use the expression "rot in hell". its a very serious thing to say.

Tween is the age of kids between when they are a child and are just becoming a teenager. It's preteen, only a different word. I'm sick of it, too, because it's everywhere! Now, go get some sleep!

Tween is a play on words with "teen" and "between". In other words, they are between being a child and a teenager.

Yeah 9/10 to 13.
Sort of transition from child to early teenager...
ie starting to get into pop but more kiddy pop
Ie the age where girls make a mess of make up and want to dress more grown up but not really ready yet.
ie pain in neck for parent.
Does not really apply to boys
