They use sharpened rocks to cut up animals or fashion dwellings but they have neatly cropped hair and smooth chins. If they've got razors and scissors surely they's have a knife they could use for the chores. How much of these so called primitive tribes are just for show?

They comb and shave. It is their culture. Primitive pertains to their technology only. On a per day average they use e. g. a larger vocabulary (2 to 3 x) than the average US or EC citizen.
Combs and such were originally made from horn, wood or bone.
Scissors can be made from stone and bone.
There is always trade so the metal scissors and plastic combs generally arrive before the missionary and that guy arrives a very long, long time before the film crew.
Always? Trade with obsidian (a stone used for blades, cutting) started in the stone age. The nations on the Baltic coast bought the copper and tin for their bronze scissors and axes with amber that was shipped to the Greece and Egypt.
btw. Metal wares are among the most sought after goods by
"primitives". Not all races have much beard growth.

Like they said many cultures and groups dont grow facial hair. Why would they clean them up, they are not cavemen, Im sure they groom themselves. They are not that primitive. heck even chimps groom themselves. So i would think most people do.

I hadn't thought of that either! Maybe the film crew has them clean up first. Now that you mention it, they are cleaner than some Chavs!
Could be they just don't have facial hair.
