I feel that way sometimes. Usually something is bothering me and often i do not realize that is the problem. I am not sure what the answers are, but i do not think it is the start of a "mental" problem. If you are that concerned, however, you might want to talk to a professional about your concerns. One of the things that helps me is to do something I enjoy that takes me away from myself. Sometimes I read a fun book, sometimes I watch a fun movie (even one I have seen before works if it is light), sometimes I play with my cats. I try to relax and concentrate on something other than how strange I am feeling. I have found that soon I am out of my anxiety and I usually have found the cause without really trying. Sometimes, I never know what brought on the feelings.
Good luck.

It's not just you, really!!!
Yeah, I have those days, and if you have them often or if they really bother you, it is best to get yourself checked out.
get checked out by GP first.
I have had low iron (meat!) levels which made me wierder than I normally am!!!
I also have un underactive thyroid gland, (you thought you had problems) which, if not regulated, makes you feel as if everything is slowed down, makes you vague, other symptoms, you can get are feeling depressed, cool when others don't feel cold, more hair falling out than usual, nails breaking a lot, weight gain, etc, you can get a blood test for that. Very easy to treat once it's diagnosed. Though I have to take tablets every day for the rest of my life, but they don't have side effects.
If you are anxious, could you have had too many stimulants like coffee before bed, and had bad dreams, therefore less deep sleep, creating tiredness?
If the GP says you are fine, make an appt with a psychiatrist. You get more money back from medicare that with a "psychologist" or "counsellor". Don't be afraid to go. I go to one every now and then, you would be surprised how many people do. It doesn't mean you are "mad" or "depressed"
You are onle "depressed" if you have many and prolonged episodes of these feelings that affect your everyday life to an extent that it bothers you.
There are mant treatments these days that are good.
But don't worry, please, just go to the GP, and ask for a thorough check up first.
A journey starts with one step.
Hope this helps and you feel better soon.

Humm, sounds a little familiar. . .
I often wake-up in fits, however they're almost all due to the unresolved issues of my past. Either I'm caught repeating the same emotional-torments, or I'm still try'n to resolve that last-one from so long ago. It can be very mentally draining. . .
I think that I was going through some sort of cleansing process each time though, not so much anxiety. . . I always woke-up distraught yes-not all there, but also with some sense of release, don't know how else to put-it.
I don't think your necessarily becoming mentally wrong though, perhaps just a product of your environment. And maybe, you have too much on your plate. Have you taken a vacation/break lately?
: )
